| To Make You Feel My Love "J," Britney said as she came up behind him. "You okay? You've been really quiet today," she said as she sat down in the sand next to him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why shouldn't I be? I'm doing what most guys my age would give their eye teeth for…I'm in paradise with Britney Spears." "If that was supposed to be a joke, it wasn't funny," she said. She hated it when they brought what they did into their relationship. "I'm sorry, babe," he said as he pulled her to him. "I just have a lot on my mind." "You shouldn't…I mean, the lawsuit is over now. You guys are signed with Jive and you're going to go ahead with the new CD in the spring." "It's not that…I know that every thing turned out. I'm just scared, Brit," he said. "Of what?" she asked as she laid her head on his shoulder as the sun began to set. "I'm afraid that our fans won't be there, that we'll bomb." "Justin, don't borrow trouble," she said as she kissed him lightly. "Everything is going to be fine." When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I would offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love "I can't believe it. I worked my ass off for the past year, for nothing," Britney said while Justin held her as she cried. "It's' okay, Brit, don't worry about it," he said as he rubbed her back trying to comfort her. "But Justin, I lost, and now everyone wants…no, expects me to go to some after party and smile." "No, go get dressed," Justin said. "Justin, I told you, I'm not going to any damn after party," she said as she pulled away from him. "Trust me?" he asekd as he kissed her lightly. "Yeah," she said as she got up and went upstairs and changed. Just like Justin promised, they didn't go to the after party with everyone else. He found a little out of the way club…it was great. "Thank you," she said as they leaned against the bar. "For what?" he asked, looking around as if he had done something. "No, you goob. Thank you for tonight. For helping me get my mind off of things," she said as she reached up and kissed him. They had kissed before…light kisses, playful kisses. There was something in this kiss that was different…and they both felt it. "You're welcome," he said breathless. "We better get out of here." He reached for her hand, but before he did, he kissed her again. He wanted to see if this one would be anything like the last one was…and sure enough, it was, if not better. When evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one there to dry your tears I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love "Are you sure that you won't be able to make it?" Britney asked. "Yeah, I'm sorry. We have a lot of promotional stuff to do. But, I will see you later," Justin said into his phone. "Okay," she said before she clicked off her phone. What she didn't realize was that her side of the conversation had been overheard by Fe. "You miss him, don't you?" she asked Britney. "Yeah…I do," she said as she smiled. "Well, do you care to tell me what's going on?" Fe asked. Britney only laughed. "If I knew, I would be glad to tell you." Fe just shook her head. I know you haven't made your mind up yet But I would never do you wrong I've known it from the moment that we met No doubt in my mind where you belong Britney sat in the audience of Madison Square Garden. She really should be tired of seeing this show, but she wasn't. Every time was different. Bobbee leaned over to her and whispered, "Girl…how can you do it? I would be dead on my feet if I had as little sleep as you get, but you're always on the go." Britney smiled at Bobbee and then looked back at the stage where Justin was performing. "Some things are just worth the lack of sleep," she said and the two laughed. I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue I'd go crawling down the avenue There's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love "Hell no. I am not going out there," Britney said as Justin held her by the wrist. "Yes, you are," he said. "Now, smile." He kissed her on the lips. They walked out onto the stage of the final NSA show in San Diego. Britney didn't mind when she had went up on stage with Bobbee in disguise, but this was different. This was a hell of a lot different. "Happy Birthday, sweetie," he whispered to her as he leaned down and kissed her. The storms are raging on the rollin' sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me yet "Oh my God, Justin. What have you done?" Britney asked as she looked at Justin for the fist time with his shaved head. "Do you like it?" he asked. "Well, it's different," she said. "I guess it's kind of sexy." She kissed him. "It's just that I leave and you look one way and I come back and you're totally changed." "I'm changed in a lot of ways," he said. "Oh?" was her only response. "Yeah," he said as he kissed her again. "I'm not afraid anymore, Brit." They both knew what he meant. He had been fearing the fans reaction to their relationship. She was starting to wonder how he really felt. That's why it did her heart good to hear him say that he wasn't afraid anymore. I could make you happy, make your dreams come true Nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of the earth for you To make you feel my love Justin and Britney sat in the bus and laughed. "I can't believe you're going to do this," she said as she sat and watched him with the can of puff paint in his hand. "Just watch me," he said. "You're crazy," she said as tears were rolling down her eyes. She didn't know if it was from laughing so hard or if it was just a release of whatever pent-up fears she had. "I'm crazy about you," he said as he held the can up over the black t- shirt and proceeded to write with red puff paint "JT <3 BS". It didn't really hit, what he had done, until Britney was backstage watching the show and on the screen there he was…for all the fans to see, he declared his love. He looked over at her and smiled as a single tear fell from her eyes. Main Page ~ Back to Short Stories Index |
