A Simple Sin

Part One
“Hmm… bills, junk mail, blah blah blah.”
Another one of his letters. As she carefully turned the
letter around in her hand, Britney debated with herself on whether to open it or
let it remain sealed. She knew whom the letter was from and what it was about.
He didn’t even have the decency to break it to her personally or even on the
phone. So he just tossed it out, ignoring the chance to read another one of lame
excuses.
Over the past few weeks, he held an important stature in her
life. According to the public, she just used him to earn an edgier title and it
was all a made up hoax. They even went so far as to airbrush pictures of them
together, making it appear that they were constantly fighting.
Her final conclusion was that the pressure must have gotten to
him. When they were keeping things on the down low, he had no problem with their
relationship. But when he accidentally revealed too much, the press began to
hound him. He was used to the attention and this whole
‘you’re-dating-Britney-Spears’ thing was overwhelming at times.
So naturally, he ditched her, like all the rest. But to say
the least, she wasn’t at all heart broken.
She knew that even when they begun to date she could never
love him. And I guess you could say she led him on. But it was worth a shot,
right? She was trying to mend her heart from all of the abuse it was taking.
Several people have asked her why she didn’t get her
revenge. After all, he has done some low things that could have destroyed her
career. And truth was, she wanted revenge. More than anything, she wanted
revenge. But she still loved and respected him too much to attempt to break his
dreams. After all, he had worked as hard if not equally harder than her to get
where he was.
She journeyed through her house, glancing at the memorabilia
along the way. Her finger traced along a picture of Jamie Lynn when she visited
Britney on her first major tour. It just made her even lonelier. It made her
realize just how much she had missed when she had spent most of her time molding
her career.
Johnny told her the first time she complained that it was what
she had to do that mattered right now, not what she wanted to do. And Johnny
knows best.
The sound of the doorbell ringing startled her and she
flinched a little. She wasn’t expecting any visitors today, so she had no clue
who to expect.
She turned the knob, seeing the outline of a figure behind the irregular shaped glass. When she came face to face with her guest, the memories of the year gone by flooded her brain once again, taking her right back to where she started.
