o_o_sunday Challenge:  Missing Scenes

“It’s my mom.” 

Spike listened as the story tumbled out.  He knew he wasn’t supposed to care about Joyce, but he did.  He longed to tell Buffy he understood the frustration of watching the person who gave you life struggling with an illness you couldn’t fight for her. 

But he kept quiet instead, listening to her voice her fears in the cool darkness.  Wanting to offer comfort but knowing she wouldn’t accept it. 

Not from him.

Finally, she stood.  “I should see if she needs me.”
