Babe

Justin leaned down and kissed Britney on the top of her head before
he rested his forehead against hers.

"I'm going to miss you," she said as she felt the tears began to
build up in her eyes.

"I know, I feel the same way, but the sooner it gets started the
sooner it gets finished," he said as he wiped the tear that fell from
her eye. "Don't cry, babe, please," he begged.

"I can't help it, J. I don't know why it's so hard this time…it just
is."

He smiled at her as he placed his hand over her ever swelling
stomach. "I think I know," he said. "The same reason it's so hard for
me to leave," he smiled at her as she placed her hand over his. Then
the guys called out for him again.

"I guess you have to go now," she said.

"Yeah, Brit," was all he said before he leaned down and captured her
lips with his. "I'm going to miss you."

"Not as much as I'm going to miss you," she said as he pulled back
and walked away.

Babe, I'm leaving, I must be on my way
The time is drawing near
My train is going, I see it in your eyes
The love, the need, your tears
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
And I'll be missing you.

"Hello?" Britney answered the phone half asleep. It was 3 in the
morning. She had no idea who would be calling at this time of the
night.

"Brit?" Justin asked into the phone.

"Justin what is it…is something wrong?"

"No, I just wanted to talk. I missed not having you with me tonight,"
he said.

"I'm sure you were great, though," she said as she sat up in bed. She
was glad that he had called. She really did miss him being there with
her. She missed being with him too, she had grown used to it.

"Brit, I love you."

"I love you, too."

"Well, I guess that's all I really wanted to say…I miss you and I
love you. Sorry, I woke you," he said.

"J, can I ask you a really stupid favor?"

"Sure, anything."

"Can you just stay on the line and let me listen to you breath? It
makes me feel close to you," she said feeling a little embarrassed.

"Good night babe," Justin said right before he heard Britney's steady
breathing. He knew she had fallen asleep. He put the phone on the
pillow where he lay and drifted off into his own peaceful sleep.

You know it's you Babe
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.

Over the next few months, the tour had continued. It was not an easy
time for Justin or Britney. Justin because he was lonely. He needed
Brit to be there, to be his rock when things went crazy. And Britney,
well Britney needed Justin to be there because she was nearing the
end of her pregnancy and every little thing scared her. She wanted so
much for him to be with her, but there was no way that she could just
come out and tell him. She knew what his career meant to him. The
same as hers meant to her. So, she would conquer this fear on her
own. Or at least she thought she would.

One day, Justin walked in the house and told her that the rest of the
tour had been moved to another date. He needed to be with her right
now, and the guys had understood.

"I love you," she said as she clung to him.

"I love you, too," he said as he kissed her lips not wanting to let
go.

"Do you know how much I wanted you here?" she asked.

"I think so…" was all he said as he pulled her near him. "I think
so," he said as he could feel her heart beating along with his. He
knew how much she wanted him there because he knew how much he wanted
to be there. They had always been in tune with each other like that.

You know it's you Babe
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.

"Well, I guess you have to go," Britney said as she stood up from
where she was in the rocking chair.

"Yeah, the guys are downstairs waiting for me," he said as he stroked
the baby's fine blonde hair.

"I'm going to miss you," Britney said.

"At least you have this little guy to keep you company until I get
back," he said as he leaned down and kissed the baby's forehead.

"Yeah, all I have to do is look at him and you're right here,"
Britney said as she looked at their son.

"I wish I didn't have to leave."

"I wish you didn't either," Britney said as the tears began to gather
in her eyes.

"I gotta go," he said as he leaned down and kissed Britney and then
his son. "Babe, I'm leaving but I'll be home soon," he said as he
turned and walked out the door.

Babe, I'm leaving, I'll say it once again
Somehow try to smile
I know the feeling we're trying to forget
If only for a while
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
And I'll be missing you
Babe, I love you.
